The Head Pastor of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) says the key to self-sufficiency in food production is mechanization of agriculture and not huge numbers of people.

Vice President John Dramani Mahama on Monday told the Ghanaian community in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, that the government had drawn up agricultural policies to change Ghana from an importer to an exporter of food.

The cashew industry holds tremendous economic potential for Ghana, says Mr Christian Dahm, Managing Director of African Cashew Alliance, an international NGO.He stressed that "Increasing local processing can create thousands of jobs and a stable market for farmers' produce".
Mr Dahm was speaking at the celebration of the Ghana Cashew Day in Sunyani on Thursday attended by cashew farmers, traders and processors.

Ms Betty Bosomtwi-Sam, Deputy Western Regional Minister on Tuesday noted that fish stock in water bodies were gradually being depleted as a result of bad fishing methods.
"It is regrettable that though the fishing industry is one of the oldest, it has not been given the needed attention. As a result, it has not been able to satisfy domestic consumer demands," she said.
