Last week, I and some other German interns and volunteers working in Accra visited a local school in Bakasoa in order to organize games and sports activities for the children.

 Since most of my fellow volunteers are working in schools or nurseries daily, the visit at the “Child Aid Foundation School” was nothing new for them. For me, being a volunteer in a journalistic project, it was an exciting and new experience.

Ghanaian ChildrenWhen I decided to go to Ghana I was confronted with two completely different opinions of my family, friends and others.
One the one hand there were the supporters. They said it will be a great experience, something I will never forget, nor regret. On the other hand there were the sceptics. They have prejudices. They asked “why Africa”? Africa is corrupt and dirty; poverty, famine and diseases are the reality.
