Ghana launches Paediatric Nursing programme PDF Print E-mail

Mr. Oakley Quaye-Kuma, Deputy Minister of Health on Tuesday observed that absence of paediatric nurses had hindered Ghana's effort to improve child survival and mortality as inscribed in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)."It is therefore basic and imperative that cautious effort is made to train the needed category of workforce to help address the current health needs of this country," he said.

Health Minister dismisses criticisms over "one-time premium" for NHIS PDF Print E-mail

kumbuorThe Health Minister, Dr. Benjamin Kumbuor, has dismissed suggestions that the Mills-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) government is “running away” from its promise to run a one-time premium payment for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
Dr Kumbuor said suggestions that the government will not be able to fulfill its promise to introduce the NHIS one-time policy is rather unfortunate.

A Norwegian study concludes that difficulty feeding a newborn may be down to higher levels of the male hormone testosterone during pregnancy.Having reviewed all of the available evidence, researchers also cast doubt on the healthy benefits of breast milk over formula. The work features in Acta Obstetricia and Gynacologica Scandinavica.
